Job Title: CASUAL On-Call aka THW

Classification: Grid Level 10

Type of Employment: Casual/ On-Call Transition House Worker aka House Parent

Wage: According to CUPE Collective Agreement and/or inhouse incumbents’ current status.

Shift schedule: VARIOUS - 7am to 11am, 7am to 12pm, 7am to 3pm, 3pm to 11pm, 4pm to 11pm, 11pm to 7am, 10am to 6pm, and 9am to 5pm Monday to Sunday

Commencement: Immediately

Qualifications:•    Education/experience: At least Grade 12 or equivalent work experience•    Knowledge areas:•    Family crisis situations (violence, child protection, trauma)•    Mental health, addictions, HIV/AIDS•    Cross-cultural awareness, especially working with Indigenous communities, refugees, and marginalized groups

Skills:•    Strong communication (both speaking and writing)•    Conflict resolution•    Ability to work both independently and in a team•    Community awareness:•    Familiarity with local support services and resources

Job expectations•    You won’t have just one role—you may rotate between:•    Housekeeper•    Cook•    Family Support Worker•    Awake Night Staff•    Shift work is required, including:•    Nights•    Weekends•    Evenings•    Hours may change depending on shelter needs (so flexibility is key)

Requirements before/after hiring•    Criminal record check•    Medical clearance (including TB test)•    First Aid & CPR certification (or willingness to get it)•    Food Safe certification (or willingness to get it)•    Must join a union
