Fashion Pattern Maker & Tech Pack Developer (Reverse Engineer Hoodie)
Hi, I run a Canadian apparel brand (Flatout Apparel) and I’m looking to reverse engineer one of our best-selling women’s hoodies into a full production-ready tech pack and pattern set. We already have the finished garment, fabric specifications, and a complete measurement spec sheet across all sizes (XS–2XL). What we need is an experienced pattern maker who can accurately translate these measurements into pattern files, reverse engineer the garment construction, and build a complete technical package so we can confidently produce this style with multiple manufacturers. This is a core product for our brand, so accuracy in fit, grading, and construction is extremely important. Scope of Work You will be responsible for:
- Reverse engineering a hoodie from a physical sample
- Creating digital pattern files (DXF preferred)
- Translating our measurement spec sheet into accurate patterns
- Developing full grading for sizes XS–2XL
- Building a complete tech pack including:
Measurement specifications Construction details (stitching, seams, assembly) Bill of materials (BOM) Trim details (drawstrings, labels, patches, etc.) Product Variations This hoodie shares the same base fit across multiple versions:
- Pullover (fleece)
- Zip-up (fleece)
- Zip-up (terry)
We are also planning a future pullover version in terry fabric. The goal is to develop a core base pattern and apply appropriate adjustments for each variation. Product Notes

- Physical hoodie sample(s)
- Measurement spec sheet
- Fabric references
Deliverables
- Digital pattern files (DXF or AI format)
- Graded size set (XS–2XL)
- Complete tech pack (PDF)
- Clear construction notes suitable for manufacturing
Requirements
- Proven experience in apparel pattern making
- Experience creating production-ready tech packs
- Ability to reverse engineer garments accurately
- Strong understanding of grading and fit
