Role Purpose:At Jumio, you will work for one of the market leaders in the global identity verification space that is helping to make the digital world a safer place for everyone. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will develop cool back-end software that will delight our customers and help expand the state of the art in this exciting domain. Role Value:By developing highly performant, robust and scalable web services and back-ends using Java and Spring Boot, you will have an impact on the latency and accuracy of the identity verification process. You will enable higher accuracy of both our algorithmic models and the manual identity verification process. We welcome you to challenge us to impact our software development processes and tools. T-Shaped Engineering Expectation:In addition to your deep expertise in backend development, you will embody a T-shaped engineering approach by contributing to the broader engineering practices. This includes a strong focus on testing automation, system design, and collaboration with backend and DevOps teams to ensure seamless integration. You will take ownership of delivering high-quality, maintainable code that not only meets immediate project goals but also supports long-term scalability and performance. Example Responsibilities Be part of a cross-functional team to work on continuous improvement of our systems with innovative technologies Collaborate closely with the team to deliver features from requirements and analysis through development into production Work with Product Managers to clarify and prioritize work Work with QA Engineers to maintain and improve quality Work with DevOps engineers to support operational and troubleshooting work Keep up to date with the latest technologies and evaluate new tools Define and use best practices to deliver new features effectively while improving the quality of existing systems Experience and Qualifications Solid experience with Java and Spring Boot (Core/MVC/Data/Security) REST principles and hands-on experience with at least one framework Experience with SQL, Git, Maven/Gradle, JPA, and Design Patterns At least 5 years of professional software development experience Experience with distributed systems Ability to work with PM, Engineering and DevOps as equal partners throughout the full feature lifecycle Ability to write good quality and secure code; familiarity with static code analysis tools is preferred Excellent analytical, conceptual, and communication skills in spoken and written English Great to have Experience and Qualifications Experience in Kotlin Experience building distributed computing and enterprise-wide systems Experience with Docker, microservices architecture (hands on), Spring Cloud, Redis, or Python Experience with the AWS suite of cloud development tools PCI experience Experience with Machine Learning, Deep Learning, or Computer Vision algorithms, either developing or using them Jumio Values: IDEAL: Integrity, Diversity, Empowerment, Accountability, Leading Innovation Equal Opportunities: Jumio is a collaboration of people with different ideas, strengths, interests and cultures.
