Job Description

Summary Field Service Technician will perform Installation, Commissioning, Electromechanical Troubleshooting, Repair/Adjustments and Modifications to GE High Voltage Assets (Circuit Breakers, Disconnect Switches, Transformers, Gas insulated switchgear (GIS), Instrument transformers (ITR’s)). The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities Perform Installation and initial starts-ups. Perform mechanical work in electrical substations. Inspects equipment, structures, and materials at designated sites to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects information and evaluates results to select the best solution and resolve customer issues Performs physical activities that requires considerable dexterity and agility Support GE Factory Production and other GE Departments as needed Supervise and give direction to contractors, customer personnel Complete paperwork in a timely and accurate manner including Field Service Reports, EHS reports, timecards and expense reports Interface between GE and Customer at site

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or diploma in electrical and or Mechanical Technology or a highly related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience on Installation, Commissioning and maintenance of high voltage equipment (preference given to field experience). Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical drawings. Ability and willingness to travel up to 80% of the time in and out of the country. Strong oral and written communication skills (French and English). Desired Characteristics Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, and execute programs. Preferred experience in troubleshooting & repair of electrical control circuits Preferred experience in mechanical assembly of high voltage assets.
