JOB TITLE: IT Systems Designer and Data Coordinator TYPE OF CONTRACT: Regular Consultant UNIT/DIVISION: Security Division (SEC) DUTY STATION (City, Country): Rome, Italy – Working remotely BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT: SEC supports WFP operations in high-risk environments by ensuring effective security risk management under the UN Security Management System. This requires timely, accurate, and actionable security data to inform operational decisions, demonstrate compliance, and support duty-of-care obligations. The increasing volume and complexity of information require require stronger data governance, streamlined workflows, and scalable analytics solutions to enable evidence-based security decisions at Global Headquarters and in Country Offices. ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: The consultant, under the direct supervision of the Head of the Business Transformation Unit (SECIB), is expected to: Develop a structured approach in data collection and monitoring Provide advice and guidance on the planning, design and implementation of data collection for reporting, performance indicators, compliance, incident management, and other security-related monitoring and evaluation needs. Gather, assess, and document business and end-user requirements. Coordinate the effective use of data visualization and analytics for WFP Security globally Assess the needs for information products; create visualizations, as required. Support the development of quality information products and dashboards. Scale data-driven solutions for Security globally. Support digital transformation into new processes and practices Streamline information management of documents and data. Draft relevant guidance documents, including guidance on data collection and monitoring in the security context. Provide support to the digital roadmap implementation, while encouraging a positive behavioral change. Identify new ways to innovate and improve internal operations and monitor current digital evolution of Security Division. DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT: Guidance on the data collection process in the security context. Support for data collection for security-related monitoring and evaluation needs. A coordinated approach for data visualization and analytics. Development of relevant training materials and courses. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Education: Advanced university degree in information systems, engineering, business, communications, social sciences or other relevant field, or first university degree with additional years of related work experience. Experience: At least 3 years of progressively responsible international experience in business systems analysis, monitoring and evaluation, or information management. At least 1 year of experience in digital transformation, change management or management consulting. At least 1 year of United Nations or humanitarian non-governmental organization experience is desirable. Knowledge & Skills: Experience in the implementation of technology-related projects. Good analytical abilities, both quantitative and qualitative: ability to perform advanced analysis in excel and produce high-quality written materials, including PowerPoint presentations as well as text documents; Experience with optimization of processes and business process analysis Experience with data visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI Collaborative spirit to liaise with a wide range of people at all levels and across different cultures, with credibility and diplomacy; Time management skills with an ability to plan, anticipate requirements, problems and obstacles, and an ability to juggle competing priorities successfully, and to work on tight deadlines; Self-motivated and able to work with a certain degree of autonomy and/ or in team; Detail-oriented with a client-oriented and user-centric approach in solutions Knowledge of data governance and data privacy principles Languages: Excellent command of spoken and written English (fluency/level C). Intermediate knowledge of another official UN language is desirable.
