Corporate Counsel The Corporate Counsel is an integral part of the Legal team, providing legal support to various parts of the organization, including the Operations, Compliance, and Business Development teams. This role is responsible fora broad range of activities, including contract drafting and administration, litigation support, policy and procedure review, and legal research and analysis. The Corporate Counsel enables the Company to achieve business outcomes while minimizing legal and compliance risk. Quarterly travel is required. Pay Range USD $115,000.00 - USD $125,000.00 /Yr. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Review, draft, and negotiate commercial agreements, including NDAs, SaaS agreements, and other operational and vendor agreements. Assist the Vendor Management team and senior management with contract interpretation and maintenance. Perform legal analysis and provide legal advice on consumer-related legal matters (including UCC filings, consumer bankruptcy actions, and probate matters). Provide litigation support, including by managing subpoena responses and legal holds, and by actively monitoring all collections-related litigation. Assist in the process of responding to consumer complaints, examination requests, and licensing matters, as needed. Review and revise policies and procedures where appropriate and evaluate business activity to determine compliance with applicable policies and procedures. Collaborate with the Compliance team, outside counsel, and/or third-party service providers to address and resolve project-specific issues. Work closely with business lines to identify and achieve desired business outcomes while minimizing legal risk and maintaining strong relationships within the organization. Provide support to the Company’s General Counsel on corporate legal matters. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management. Must be able to come to work promptly and regularly. Minimum Qualifications: Law degree from an accredited law school and admitted to practice law in any U.S. jurisdiction, with the ability to register as in-house counsel in the State of Wisconsin. Minimum 2 years’ experience, with in-house legal department experience and/or experience in the consumer finance industry preferred. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet Explorer).
