Research Scientist, Bioinformatics
Our client, a leading biotechnology firm focused on therapeutic development, is seeking a talented Research Scientist specializing in Bioinformatics. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute to vital research from your preferred location. You will be responsible for the analysis of large-scale biological datasets, including genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics data, to support drug discovery and development efforts. This role requires a strong computational background, expertise in statistical analysis, and a passion for unraveling complex biological questions. Responsibilities: Develop and implement computational methods for the analysis of high-throughput biological data. Analyze and interpret complex genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic datasets. Collaborate with experimental biologists and clinicians to design research studies and interpret results. Develop and maintain bioinformatics pipelines and databases. Identify biomarkers and therapeutic targets through data-driven approaches. Contribute to the preparation of scientific publications, reports, and presentations. Stay current with the latest advancements in bioinformatics, computational biology, and related fields. Mentor junior bioinformaticians and research associates. Visualize and communicate complex data effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences. Qualifications: Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in bioinformatics analysis, preferably in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology setting. Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, R, or Perl. Experience with common bioinformatics tools and databases (e.g., BLAST, UCSC Genome Browser, Ensembl). Proficiency in statistical analysis and machine learning techniques applied to biological data. Experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis is essential. Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud) is a plus. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and effectively in a remote team environment.
