Senior Commercial Lines New Business Underwriter | Remote

Our client, a leading Insurance Carrier, is seeking to add a Senior Commercial Lines New Business Underwriter to their Colorado team. This individual will be responsible for driving New Business throughout the territory while managing and cultivating agency relationships. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with excellent analytical skills and experience underwriting Commercial Lines products (GL, Auto, WC, and Property). This position offers a flexible remote schedule with occasional travel throughout the territory.

Responsibilities

  • Underwrite and manage a portfolio of small business accounts, including new and renewal business.
  • Evaluate risk acceptability, determine appropriate pricing, and apply underwriting guidelines to ensure profitability.
  • Analyze financials, loss history, and exposure data to make informed underwriting decisions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with agents and brokers to drive new business opportunities and retention.
  • Provide timely and accurate quotes, policy issuance, and endorsements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams including claims, actuarial, and product development to support underwriting strategy.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and take corrective action as needed to achieve business objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with company underwriting guidelines, state regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough underwriting documentation and file management.

Qualifications

  • 3 - 8+ years of commercial underwriting experience, with a focus on small business accounts.
  • Strong understanding of multi-line coverages (e.g., General Liability, Property, BOP, Workers’ Compensation).
  • Proven ability to analyze risk, make sound underwriting decisions, and manage a book of business.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with agents and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a high-volume workload in a remote environment.
  • Proficiency with underwriting systems and Microsoft Office tools.

Salary & Benefits
