Work Environment

Our facility is designed to promote both efficiency and comfort, allowing our team to deliver comprehensive veterinary care. The clinic operates with flexible schedules, including options for 4x10 or 5x8 shifts. Standard clinic hours are from Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 8 PM, with Saturday hours from 8 AM to 3 PM and Sundays closed. Each team member contributes to a culture that values teamwork, ongoing education, and a shared passion for animal welfare.

Key Responsibilities

As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our veterinarians and veterinary technicians. Your main responsibilities include:

  • Preparing animals for examinations and surgical procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Assisting with medical treatments, administering medications, and monitoring post-operative patients.
  • Conducting routine tasks such as taking vital signs and performing basic diagnostics.
  • Collaborating with team members to maintain a clean and organized work environment, following all safety protocols.
  • Engaging with pet owners to discuss routine care, treatment plans, and provide support during visits.
  • Utilizing positive handling techniques and safe restraint methods to manage pets during examinations.

Patient Population / Client Focus Our clinic primarily caters to dogs and cats of all ages and breeds. Many of our patients require regular preventative care, and some may need specialized treatments for conditions such as dental disease, skin disorders, or chronic illnesses. As a Veterinary Assistant, your empathy and communication skills will be vital in building strong relationships with both pets and their owners, ensuring a positive experience during each visit.

Qualifications

To be considered for the Veterinary Assistant position at Mission Veterinary Partners, you should possess:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, emphasizing animal care or veterinary science.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, demonstrating compassion and professionalism.
  • Proficiency in safely and effectively restraining animals, particularly those that may be fractious or anxious.

Preferred Experience While prior experience in a clinical or animal handling environment is valued, we believe that a dedicated attitude and commitment to learning are equally essential. Candidates with previous veterinary practice or animal care roles will be given preference, as will individuals who exhibit a strong desire to grow within our organization.
