About arenaflex – Pioneering Health‑Focused Innovation

arenaflex is a global leader in the retail pharmacy and health‑care space, operating thousands of community locations across the United States, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. With a heritage spanning more than 170 years, arenaflex blends deep industry expertise with cutting‑edge technology to deliver an omnichannel experience that puts patients and customers at the center of everything we do. Our mission is simple yet powerful: to improve lives through better health. As part of this mission, we are building a data‑driven culture where advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, and cloud‑native solutions empower every business decision. If you are passionate about turning massive data sets into actionable insights that shape the future of health care, you will find a home at arenaflex.

Why This Role Matters

In today’s fast‑moving health‑care ecosystem, the ability to predict demand, personalize services, and optimize operations is a competitive advantage. As a Senior Data Scientist at arenaflex, you will be at the heart of that transformation. You will design, develop, and deploy sophisticated machine‑learning models that influence product strategy, improve operational efficiency, and ultimately enhance the health outcomes of millions of customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement advanced statistical and machine‑learning models using techniques such as deep learning, Bayesian inference, ensemble methods, and reinforcement learning.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—including finance, product management, software engineering, and business leadership—to translate business problems into data‑science projects.
  • Build scalable data pipelines on cloud platforms (Azure, Databricks) and query large‑scale warehouses (Snowflake) to ensure reliable access to high‑quality data.
  • Develop and maintain production‑grade codebases in Python, PySpark, and related ecosystems, adhering to best practices in version control (GitHub), CI/CD, and agile development.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, and model validation to extract meaningful patterns from terabytes of structured and unstructured data.
  • Communicate complex analytical findings to non‑technical stakeholders through clear visualizations, storytelling, and actionable recommendations.
  • Lead the design and execution of A/B testing frameworks to rigorously evaluate the impact of new models and product features.
  • Mentor junior data scientists and analysts, fostering a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends in AI/ML, cloud computing, and health‑care analytics, and proactively propose innovative solutions.
  • Travel up to 10% of the time for on‑site collaboration with business units, partner sites, and industry conferences (travel is fully reimbursed).

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related STEM field. A Master’s degree is strongly preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years of hands‑on experience building and deploying machine‑learning models at scale, preferably in a retail or health‑care environment.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in SQL, Python, and PySpark; familiarity with TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit‑learn, and MLflow.
  • Statistical Expertise: Deep understanding of probability theory, statistical modeling, hypothesis testing, and experimental design.
  • Cloud Competence: Demonstrated experience with Azure, Databricks, Snowflake, and containerized deployment (Docker/Kubernetes).
  • Communication: Ability to translate technical concepts into business‑friendly language and influence decision‑makers at all levels.
  • Leadership: At least 2 years of experience leading project teams, managing stakeholders, and delivering results in ambiguous, fast‑paced environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Statistics, Physics, or a related field.
  • Hands‑on experience with Internet of Things (IoT) data streams and Edge AI deployments.
  • Practical knowledge of reinforcement learning and its application to real‑world business problems.
  • Prior experience in health‑care analytics, pharmacy operations, or related domains.
  • Certifications in cloud platforms (e.g., Azure Data Engineer, AWS Certified Machine Learning) or data‑science specializations.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical Rigor: Ability to work with massive, messy data sets and extract reliable insights.
  • Problem‑Solving: Creative approach to tackling ambiguous business challenges with data‑driven solutions.
  • Collaboration: Strong teamwork skills, comfortable partnering with engineers, product owners, and senior executives.
  • Adaptability: Thrive in a dynamic environment where priorities shift quickly and new technologies emerge.
  • Ethical Judgment: Commitment to responsible AI practices, data privacy, and regulatory compliance.
