Position Overview

The Principal DevOps Engineer role at arenaflex is a senior, individual‑contributor position that drives the strategic evolution of our DevOps tooling, practices, and culture. This role sits at the intersection of software development, infrastructure automation, and security compliance, ensuring that arenaflex’s platforms are resilient, scalable, and secure. While the title references data entry and virtual assistance, the core responsibilities focus on advanced DevOps engineering, making this an ideal opportunity for seasoned professionals who thrive in fast‑paced, cloud‑native environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Define and execute a comprehensive DevOps strategy that aligns with arenaflex’s business objectives, emphasizing reliability, scalability, security, and cost efficiency.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Design, implement, and maintain IaC solutions using Terraform, Ansible, or comparable tools to provision and manage resources across multi‑cloud environments (GCP, Azure, AWS).
  • CI/CD Pipeline Management: Build, optimize, and oversee robust CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, CircleCI, or similar platforms to enable rapid, reliable application delivery.
  • Collaboration with Security & Compliance Teams: Partner with security engineers to embed best‑practice controls, vulnerability scanning, and compliance checks into the DevOps workflow.
  • Performance Monitoring & Observability: Deploy and configure monitoring solutions such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Splunk to ensure system health and proactive incident response.
  • Automation & Scripting: Develop reusable scripts in Python, Bash, or PowerShell to automate repetitive tasks, reduce manual effort, and improve consistency.
  • Continuous Improvement: Analyze pipeline metrics, identify bottlenecks, and implement enhancements that increase deployment frequency and reduce failure rates.
  • Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing: Coach junior engineers, lead technical workshops, and foster a culture of continuous learning and knowledge exchange.
  • Technology Evangelism: Stay current with emerging cloud technologies, DevOps trends, and industry standards, recommending strategic adoption where appropriate.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 5+ years of hands‑on experience in cloud environments (GCP, Azure, or AWS) and container orchestration platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Proven expertise in Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation) and a deep understanding of declarative provisioning.
  • Extensive experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with tools like Jenkins, CircleCI, GitLab CI, or similar.
  • Strong programming/scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell, with the ability to write clean, maintainable code.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex DevOps challenges, perform root‑cause analysis, and deliver pragmatic solutions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of working effectively with cross‑functional teams, including developers, security, and operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with monitoring and logging stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Cloud Logging) to drive observability and performance tuning.
  • Knowledge of security best practices in DevOps, including vulnerability scanning, compliance frameworks (HIPAA, SOC 2), and secure deployment pipelines.
  • Prior experience mentoring junior engineers, leading technical workshops, or contributing to internal training programs.
  • Certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Google Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer, or Azure DevOps Engineer Expert.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and the ability to thrive in a fast‑moving, iterative development environment.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Cloud Architecture: Deep understanding of cloud networking, IAM, storage, and compute services across major providers.
  • Automation Mindset: Passion for eliminating manual processes through code, scripts, and reusable components.
  • Problem‑Solving: Analytical thinker who can dissect intricate system interactions and propose elegant, scalable solutions.
  • Collaboration: Ability to build strong relationships, influence stakeholders, and drive consensus across diverse teams.
  • Continuous Learning: Commitment to staying ahead of technology curves and sharing insights with peers.
