Position Overview

As a Pharmacy Care Coordinator at arenaflex, you will serve as the primary point of contact for patients navigating the complex world of specialty pharmacy services. Your role will involve comprehensive coordination and processing of both new patient prescription orders and refill requests, ensuring that every patient receives their medications accurately, on time, and with the compassionate support they deserve. This position requires a unique blend of administrative precision, customer service excellence, and genuine care for patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional phone-based support to patients receiving life-supporting specialty drug treatments, demonstrating empathy, professionalism, and patience during every interaction
  • Process and manage new patient prescription orders from initiation through fulfillment, including thorough verification and benefit investigation
  • Handle prescription refill requests with accuracy and efficiency, coordinating renewal timelines to prevent any gaps in patient medication therapy
  • Verify and refresh insurance benefits, ensuring patients understand their coverage and financial responsibilities
  • Assist patients with interpreting, entering, and submitting new or refill prescriptions into the pharmacy information system
  • Collect copay amounts and process payments securely, maintaining strict compliance with financial protocols and patient privacy standards
  • Obtain prior authorizations from insurance companies, working diligently to expedite approvals and minimize delays in treatment
  • Collaborate effectively with insurance carriers, healthcare providers, prescribers, and internal cross-functional teams to resolve any account-related or clinical issues
  • Monitor order statuses, identify potential problems proactively, and escalate concerns appropriately to ensure timely resolution
  • Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of all patient interactions, order modifications, and resolution efforts in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Educate patients about their specialty medications, including administration instructions, potential side effects, and the importance of adherence
  • Meet or exceed established performance metrics related to call volume, quality assurance, patient satisfaction, and order processing times

Essential Qualifications

  • Customer Service Experience: Minimum of one year of experience in a customer service role handling and resolving a high volume of complex customer needs via telephone
  • Technical Proficiency: At least one year of work experience with Windows-based applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, web navigation tools, and email applications
  • Keyboard Skills: One year of computer keyboarding experience with demonstrated skills and proficiency for accurate data entry
  • Education: Verifiable high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities with a professional and courteous phone presence
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to resolve complex issues efficiently
  • Time Management: Ability to multitask, prioritize effectively, and manage time in a fast-paced remote work environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual capabilities (Spanish/English) are a plus but not required
  • Previous experience in a call center environment with quality monitoring programs
