  • Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and software engineers to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Ensure data security, compliance, and governance by integrating encryption, masking, and access‑control mechanisms.
  • Optimize data models for performance, cost‑efficiency, and reliability in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Mentor junior engineers and lead knowledge‑sharing sessions on best practices for data modeling, pipeline orchestration, and testing.
  • Participate in cross‑functional agile ceremonies, providing technical insight and estimating effort for data‑related stories.
  • Drive continuous improvement by evaluating emerging technologies such as Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg, and streaming platforms.
  • Support advanced analytics use cases, including machine‑learning feature stores, real‑time dashboards, and predictive modeling.
  • Document architecture decisions, data lineage, and operational runbooks to ensure maintainability and knowledge transfer.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 5+ years of hands‑on experience designing and operating large‑scale data warehouses or data lakes.
  • Proficiency with SQL and relational database concepts; ability to write complex queries for analytics and data transformation.
  • Demonstrated expertise in at least one modern programming language such as Python, Java, Scala, or Node.js.
  • Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines using tools like Apache Airflow, AWS Glue, dbt, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of data security principles, including encryption, role‑based access control, and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Hands‑on experience with big‑data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR, or Presto.
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms (e.g., Amazon Redshift, Snowflake, Google BigQuery, Azure Synapse).
  • Experience managing petabyte‑scale data lakes and implementing data lakehouse architectures.
  • Background in data governance tools (e.g., Apache Atlas, Collibra) and data cataloging.
  • Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines for data engineering.
  • Prior experience mentoring teams and establishing engineering standards.
  • Passion for emerging AI/ML workflows and the ability to support feature‑store pipelines.

Core Competencies

  • Analytical mindset: Ability to dissect complex data problems and devise elegant, performant solutions.
  • Collaboration: Proven track record of working effectively with cross‑functional teams, including product, analytics, and security.
