Why This Role Matters

Our Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) organization sits directly under the office of the CTO and is the backbone that keeps arenaflex’s services running smoothly. As a Junior Site Reliability Engineer focused on data entry, call support, and customer assistance, you will play a critical role in maintaining the health, availability, and performance of our core platforms. Your work will directly impact the experience of users across the globe and help arenaflex continue its legacy of innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor, detect, and troubleshoot incidents of varying complexity across multiple services and infrastructure layers.
  • Assist with the design, deployment, configuration, and maintenance of production systems, ensuring they meet reliability and security standards.
  • Develop pragmatic, scalable solutions for non‑routine problems, collaborating closely with product, engineering, and support teams.
  • Build and enhance automation tools for provisioning, configuration management, and monitoring to reduce manual toil.
  • Apply best‑practice knowledge of system architecture, design patterns, and operational procedures to improve overall service resilience.
  • Participate in on‑call rotations, providing timely response to alerts and performing root‑cause analysis for post‑incident reviews.
  • Document processes, runbooks, and knowledge‑base articles to empower the broader team and promote a culture of shared learning.
  • Engage with cross‑functional stakeholders to translate technical concepts into understandable language for non‑technical audiences.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Operating Systems: Hands‑on experience with Linux environments and familiarity with common system administration tools.
  • Containerization: Understanding of container technologies such as Docker and basic experience deploying containerized workloads.
  • Cloud Fundamentals: Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and best practices for cloud‑native architecture.
  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (e.g., Python, JavaScript) for automation and tooling.
  • Communication: Ability to articulate technical issues clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge of compiled languages such as C, C++, Go, or Rust.
  • Experience with networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and fundamentals of application security and performance testing.
  • Familiarity with orchestration platforms like Kubernetes and experience managing container clusters.
  • Understanding of monitoring stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK) and incident‑response workflows.
  • Previous exposure to large‑scale distributed systems or high‑traffic web services.

Core Competencies for Success

  • Problem‑Solving Mindset: Ability to think critically, break down complex problems, and devise effective solutions under pressure.
  • Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills and a team‑first attitude; comfortable working in cross‑functional environments.
  • Adaptability: Thrive in a fast‑changing environment, quickly learning new technologies and processes.
  • Ownership: Take responsibility for the reliability of services you support, proactively identifying improvement opportunities.
  • Continuous Learning: Commitment to personal and professional growth through training, certifications, and knowledge sharing.

Career Growth & Learning Opportunities

arenaflex invests heavily in the development of its people. As a junior SRE, you will have access to:

  • Mentorship from senior engineers and architects who guide your technical journey.
  • Internal training programs covering cloud architecture, DevOps practices, and emerging technologies.
  • Sponsored certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator).
  • Opportunities to rotate across different product teams, gaining exposure to a wide range of services and business domains.
