Experienced Customer Service Representative Supporting Veterans in a Remote Setting

Job Summary As a Customer Service Representative, you will be responsible for providing top-notch support to Veterans through various communication channels, including phone, email, chat, and SMS. You will work closely with our team to resolve customer inquiries, address concerns, and provide information on our services and resources. Your exceptional communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment will make you an invaluable asset to our team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Answer inbound telephone calls and customer inquiries in other channels (email, chat, SMS) as needed in a courteous, timely, and professional manner following established guidelines and policies
  • Make outbound calls as necessary based on business needs
  • Resolve or escalate customer inquiries in a timely manner
  • Encourage use of electronic communication with customers
  • Accurately document all customer interactions using Case Management or Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system
  • Follow SOPs and policies
  • Maintain a high degree of quality with each customer interaction as measured by internal quality monitoring forms and customer satisfaction surveys
  • Follow-up established escalation process for customer inquiries requiring more investigation and/or a higher level of support
  • Use frequently asked questions (FAQs) and help look up and provide information to inquiries
  • Utilize departmental knowledge bases and training material to answer customer inquiries
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of policies and procedures as applicable
  • Adhere to published schedule according to attendance guidelines
  • May be required to work some weekends and holidays
  • Perform other duties as assigned Essential Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred
  • 1-2 years of customer service experience in a call center or similar environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in CRM software and other relevant systems
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with Veterans or in a related field
  • Knowledge of military culture and benefits
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills
  • Experience with case management or CRM software
  • Certification in customer service or a related field Skills and Competencies
