Why This Role Matters

Data is the lifeblood of arenaflex’s creative and operational engines. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines that transform raw data into actionable intelligence for studios, product teams, and business partners. Your work will directly influence how millions of fans experience our content, from personalized recommendations on streaming services to real‑time analytics that optimize theme‑park operations. If you thrive on solving complex data challenges, love collaborating with cross‑functional teams, and enjoy the flexibility of remote work, this role is crafted for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Studio, Product, and Innovation stakeholders to gather and translate data requirements into scalable pipeline designs.
  • Architect, develop, and maintain end‑to‑end ETL/ELT workflows using industry‑leading tools such as SQL, Python, Apache Airflow, Docker, GitLab, Snowflake, Looker, and PostgreSQL.
  • Design and implement data models, schema mappings, and data‑set views that support analytics, reporting, and machine‑learning initiatives.
  • Manage data environments across Development, QA/UAT, and Production, ensuring seamless promotion of pipelines and data assets.
  • Implement best‑practice data governance, security, and compliance standards, especially for cloud‑based platforms like AWS S3 and Azure Data Lake.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to optimize data lake structures, data warehouse performance, and downstream consumption patterns.
  • Drive continuous improvement of data engineering processes, including automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring dashboards.
  • Mentor junior engineers, share knowledge through code reviews, and champion a culture of data excellence.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies (e.g., Databricks, Kafka, Spark) and evaluate their fit for arenaflex’s evolving data ecosystem.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in a Data Engineering or Data Architecture role.
  • At least 2 years of hands‑on experience designing, building, and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines.
  • Proficiency with SQL (query optimization, stored procedures, data modeling).
  • Strong programming skills in Python, including libraries such as Pandas, SQLAlchemy, and Airflow operators.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS (S3, Redshift, Glue) or Azure equivalents.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with data lakes, data warehouses, and large‑scale data sets (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks).
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and version control (GitLab/GitHub).
  • Solid understanding of data governance, security, and compliance best practices.

Preferred Qualifications & Differentiators

  • Master’s degree or advanced certifications in Data Engineering, Cloud Architecture, or related disciplines.
  • Experience with streaming technologies such as Apache Kafka, Kinesis, or similar.
  • Background in the media, entertainment, or digital marketing sectors, providing domain insight into content‑driven data workflows.
  • Hands‑on experience with Apache Airflow (or similar orchestration tools) for complex workflow scheduling.
  • Exposure to business intelligence platforms like Looker, Tableau, or Power BI for delivering data visualizations.
  • Track record of establishing and evolving data engineering standards, documentation, and automated testing frameworks.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical mindset: Ability to dissect complex data problems and propose elegant, performant solutions.
  • Collaboration: Strong communication skills for working with cross‑functional teams, translating technical concepts into business value.
