Role Overview

Reporting to the Director of Payments, Americas, you will lead a cross‑functional team that includes Commercial Operations, Product, Engineering, Data Science, Finance, and Customer Support. Your mandate is to design, implement, and continuously improve payment strategies that balance short‑term performance with long‑term innovation. You will act as both a visionary strategist and a hands‑on executor, influencing internal stakeholders and external partners alike.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Define and own the payment roadmap for Mexico, Colombia, and Peru, aligning it with arenaflex’s global objectives and regional regulatory requirements.
  • Partnership Management: Build and nurture relationships with banks, card networks, fintech platforms, and other payment service providers to negotiate favorable terms, drive cost efficiencies, and introduce new payment methods.
  • Performance Optimization: Leverage existing payment infrastructure to improve transaction success rates, reduce decline ratios, and lower processing costs while maintaining a superior user experience.
  • Innovation & Product Development: Identify emerging trends (e.g., digital wallets, buy‑now‑pay‑later, QR‑code payments) and champion pilot programs that keep arenaflex ahead of the competition.
  • Data‑Driven Decision Making: Analyze payment metrics, customer behavior, and market data to generate actionable insights and inform strategic bets.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Finance, and Legal teams to ensure seamless integration of new payment solutions and compliance with local regulations.
  • Regulatory & Risk Management: Stay abreast of evolving payment regulations in each market, work closely with compliance teams, and implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Team Influence: Serve as a thought leader within the Payments organization, mentoring junior members and fostering a culture of curiosity, integrity, and continuous improvement.
  • Travel & Representation: Represent arenaflex at industry conferences, partner meetings, and internal leadership forums across LATAM and the United States.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience managing large‑scale CNP (Card‑Not‑Present) and recurring payment programs, preferably within a subscription‑based or digital services environment.
  • Deep technical understanding of payment processing, gateway integrations, and settlement workflows specific to Mexico, Colombia, and Peru.
  • Proven track record of negotiating and managing relationships with banks, card schemes, and fintech partners.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex data sets into clear strategic recommendations.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English; fluency in Spanish is required.
  • Demonstrated judgment and integrity, with a history of making autonomous, high‑impact decisions in ambiguous environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field; an MBA or equivalent advanced degree is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel periodically throughout LATAM and the United States.

Preferred Qualifications & Additional Skills

  • Existing network of contacts within the LATAM payments ecosystem, including relationships with major acquiring banks and emerging fintech players.
  • Experience launching alternative payment methods (e.g., digital wallets, cash‑based solutions) in emerging markets.
  • Knowledge of local regulatory frameworks such as Mexico’s “Ley Fintech,” Colombia’s “Circular 001,” and Peru’s “Superintendencia de Banca, Seguros y AFP” guidelines.
  • Ability to manage multiple high‑priority projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Comfort with influencing senior leadership and presenting strategic proposals to executive audiences.
  • Additional language skills (e.g., Portuguese) are considered an advantage.
