Yes Energy is a leader in electric power data and analytics solutions, providing real-time visibility into the North American electrical grid. As a Sales Development Representative, you will focus on converting inbound leads into qualified meetings for Account Executives, while developing foundational sales skills and industry knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Follow up quickly and professionally with marketing-generated inbound leads, demo requests, content downloads, webinar attendees, event leads, and other prospects
- Qualify inbound interest by understanding each prospect’s role, business priorities, use case, timing, and potential fit for Yes Energy solutions
- Schedule qualified discovery calls for Account Executives and Account Managers
- Create a strong first impression of the Yes Energy brand through thoughtful, helpful, and timely communication
- Partner closely with Account Executives and Account Managers to route qualified opportunities, provide context, and ensure a smooth handoff
- Work with Marketing to provide feedback on lead quality, campaign performance, common prospect questions, and conversion trends
- Maintain accurate lead, account, and activity records in Salesforce
- Learn Yes Energy’s products, target personas, customer use cases, and the fundamentals of power markets
- Develop strong sales habits, including discovery, qualification, objection handling, follow-up, prioritization, and professional communication
- Build the skills and industry knowledge needed to move into a BDR role with broader outbound and account-based prospecting responsibilities
Skills
- 0–2 years of experience in sales, customer service, recruiting, marketing, business development, or another customer-facing role
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow up consistently
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Interest in building a career in SaaS sales
- Comfortable learning new tools, systems, and technical concepts
- Experience using Salesforce or another CRM
- Internship or professional experience in SaaS, technology, energy, data, financial markets, or analytics
- Prior experience qualifying leads, setting meetings, or working with customers
- Familiarity with sales engagement tools, marketing automation platforms, or lead routing processes
- Interest in the electric power industry and a desire to develop industry expertise
- Effective Communication: Ability to deliver clear, concise information and listen actively to prospect needs
- Stakeholder Focus: Skilled at identifying stakeholder problems and managing expectations with empathy and responsiveness
- Sales Execution: Ability to initiate customer interactions and lead discovery conversations that uncover high-potential leads
- Prioritization & Time Management: Discipline to balance competing demands and manage workload to meet deadlines
- Energy Industry Knowledge: Foundational understanding of energy markets or a strong desire to learn the power landscape
- CRM Proficiency: Experience using Salesforce.com for lead management and tracking is preferred
- Team Focused: A collaborative approach to working with small teams on projects that impact business success
