What You Will Do

As a Real World Evidence Data Scientist at arenaflex, you will be responsible for mining, analyzing, and interpreting complex healthcare data to deliver normalized, analysis-ready datasets. Your work will directly contribute to shaping research strategies and informing critical business decisions across the organization. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to extract valuable insights from real-world clinical and healthcare data sources, supporting biopharmaceutical RWE initiatives and clinical trial requests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Mining and Analysis: Extract and process raw data from in-house sources and authorized platforms to create standardized, research-ready patient datasets. Analyze and interpret results to identify patterns, trends, and correlations that inform research direction.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with clinical trial teams and other stakeholders to deliver actionable insights from real-world, clinical, and diverse data sources. Support analyses exploring unmet needs, safety and efficacy in specific disease states, treatment patterns, healthcare economic burden, and cost-effectiveness modeling.
  • Data Transformation: Clean, transform, and store data into organized data lakes for future analysis and broader team utilization. Ensure data integrity, consistency, and accessibility across the organization.
  • Statistical Analysis: Perform data mining and statistical analysis on RWE/Real World Data (RWD) to discover new insights regarding patient populations and treatment outcomes. Apply advanced statistical methodologies to address complex research questions.
  • Research Support: Support the development of real data, analysis, and platform capabilities. Apply advanced analytics and tools to resolve scientific inquiries from biopharmaceutical organizations seeking to understand patient outcomes.
  • Study Design: Collaborate on the design and execution of outcomes research studies. Ensure studies are methodologically sound, ethically conducted, and aligned with regulatory requirements.
  • Quality Assurance: Deliver high-quality, thorough, and readily interpretable findings from RWE reviews and analyses. Maintain rigorous standards for data accuracy and interpretive clarity.
  • Reporting and Visualization: Build dashboards, analyses, and reports for both internal and external stakeholders. Present findings in clear, compelling formats that drive informed decision-making.
  • Vendor Evaluation: Conduct due diligence on new real-world data suppliers and vendors. Drive RWD quality evaluations to inform enterprise decisions and ensure data reliability.

What You Bring

We are seeking a candidate with a strong foundation in data science and healthcare analytics. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience working with complex healthcare datasets and a passion for applying statistical methodologies to address real-world clinical questions.

Essential Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Statistics, Biostatistics, Data Science, Public Health, Epidemiology, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Technical Skills: Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with programming languages such as R, Python, or SQL. Proficiency in at least one of these languages is required, with demonstrated ability to write efficient, reproducible code.
  • Statistical Expertise: Experience designing and executing robust and reproducible statistical analyses in the context of epidemiology and observational research using healthcare data. Familiarity with common statistical testing methodologies including generalized linear models, classification and regression, decision trees, unsupervised learning, time series analysis, and survival analysis.
  • Data Handling: Proven experience processing large datasets from diverse data sources. Ability to work with complex data structures and transform raw data into analysis-ready formats.
  • Healthcare Data Privacy: Knowledge of and experience handling protected patient health information (PHI) with strict adherence to privacy regulations and organizational policies.
  • Business Intelligence Tools: Familiarity with at least one of the following: Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Spotfire, or other business intelligence and visualization tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Healthcare Data Systems: Proficiency in EMR/Health IT systems, disease registries, and insurance claims databases. Understanding of healthcare data ecosystems and patient journey mapping.
  • Clinical Terminologies: Knowledge of clinical data standards, clinical phrasing, and controlled vocabularies used in healthcare data and ontologies, including ICD-9/ICD-10 and ReadCode.
  • Regulatory Experience: Experience with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and/or regulatory compliance guidelines for real-world evidence studies or clinical trials, such as ISO standards, MDD/MDR, or CFR requirements.
  • Alternative Data Sources: Experience handling alternative data sources and alternative methods for clinical data collection, particularly those enabled by technology platforms and digital solutions.
  • Advanced Analytics: Experience with trial design, Bayesian modeling, sequential analysis, and computational statistics. Understanding of advanced statistical methodologies and their practical applications.
  • Machine Learning: Understanding of machine learning techniques and the ability to continuously self-learn and develop both technical and non-technical skills in a rapidly evolving field.
